Health and mental well-being are inseparable. Psychologists listen to the needs of patients and support them during their hospitalization. Each health concern is unique and can cause a form of physical and/or psychological suffering.
The goal of psychological support is to help patients, facing health issues, to mobilize their personal resources in order to achieve the best possible well-being. The psychology service operates autonomously within the hospital but works transversally with various medical and surgical sectors to facilitate their interactions with the care team. Patients are at the center of the psychologists’ concerns.
The service has a psychologist familiar with multiple health issues. They can see patients in consultation or be contacted during their hospitalization. The psychology service intervenes in many departments of the hospital:
– Outpatient Consultation
– Surgery
– Operating Room
– Gynecology and Obstetrics
– Pediatrics
The psychologist is there to help patients and their families adapt to the physical, emotional, and cognitive changes that often accompany a disability or chronic illness. They conduct psychological assessments and offer treatments that enable patients to overcome difficulties such as depression, anxiety, pain, or memory and reasoning disorders.
